The Society of Archivists Standards Framework

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

DCC DIFFUSE Standards Frameworks and the Society of Archivists Data Standards Group have been working together to develop a framework of standards applicable to the curation and preservation of digital materials within the archives domain. The Guide to Archival and Related Standards, which introduces standards included in the Framework, has been appearing monthly in Arc, and on the Group's pages of the Society of Archivists Website over the last year. The series aims to provide straightforward information regarding standards which areapplicable to archives for the long-term management of digital materials either as digital deposits in the archive, or materials created by the archivist to increase access to collections such as: repository guides, finding-aids, and digitised images of items.Information on the full set of standards identified by the Group is expected to be available from 1 June 2009, as the Society of Archivists Standards Framework. It will be included in the re-launch of DCC DIFFUSE Standards Frameworks, a revamp of the original Project which adds browsing functionality, content and context.
