Abstract
Poetry, for Carmen Martín Gaite, was a lifelong passion and thus was part of the development of her expressive vision and creative voice. Her poems reflect characteristics and themes developed in all her narrative and essay work. Her early youth poetry deals with themes that will appear in her early stories and expresses her now familiar female creative perspective in embryonic form: the liminal space, the window / lunera woman, solitary contemplation, penetration and flight.
