Abstract
] This is the first study in English of a unique public controversy about the meaning of German history conducted in the early years of the Third Reich, and the only one in any language to show how it rumbled on into the early 1940s. It draws on a range of primary sources, including: archival sources; contemporary newspapers, periodicals and pamphlets; academic and popular histories; historical novels and plays. The publisher is highly regarded, and the volume is the result of an international symposium.
