Abstract
Whall’s series of drawings made between 2007 – 2011 present a unique and alternative form of self –portraiture that present aspects of female identity and self –expression from a personal perspective while simultaneously creating a critical platform from which to challenge and discuss currently relevant political, cultural and social conditioning, taboo's, stereotypes and expectations. The drawings are unique and relevant in their successful execution; presenting the tension between awkward, explicit and intimate subject matter within ‘beautifully’ rendered traditional forms of drawing.
