Description
This project is a new collaborative network in Wales which will explore randomised optimisation algorithms (ROA), an artificial intelligence facet rooted in search, optimisation and algorithmics. It will capitalise on the momentum created through two recent European COST Actions with industry (CA15140, CA22137).
Difficult optimisation problems are pervasive in contemporary decision-making. ROA are especially effective for large-scale problems or problems that are unsolvable by traditional solvers, however, they remain underused in real-world applications despite their advantages over classical and other modern AI techniques. Prominent examples include evolutionary algorithms, swarm intelligence and local search.
