After receiving a first-class degree in Geography from Aberystwyth University in 2014, Sioned studied towards an MSc in Environmental Change, Impact and Adaptation, again from the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences (DGES). After receiving a scholarship from the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, she completed her PhD thesis in 2019 at DGES. Her research explored different ways to promote the awareness of geomorphology in parts of Wales, and looking at the importance of those areas in Welsh culture over the centuries. Whilst completing her PhD, Sioned taught on a number of Welsh- and English-medium modules at DGES and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2019.

In July 2019 Sioned worked at Menter a Busnes, in the first instance undertaking research into measuring greenhouse gas emissions on Welsh farms and then as Development and Mentoring Manager. Sioned then returned to Aberystwyth University, working as an Online Learning Specialist with the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Unit where she supported staff members to deliver high-quality teaching through virtual channels. As a first-language Welsh speaker, she also developed the unit's provision of Welsh-medium training and resources to university staff.

In August 2021, Sioned began working as Digital Capabilities Officer with Information Services where she is responsible for coordinating the Digial Capabilities Project, which gives students and staff the opportunity to assess and develop their digital capabilities.
