Description

The Ports, Past and Present team invite the general public to the Dublin launch of our film At the Water’s Edge: Stories of the Irish Sea at the Port Centre in Dublin Port at 17:00 on Saturday, 13 August 2022.
The documentary was filmed across five ferry port communities around the Irish Sea, following local people with a passion for their town’s history and heritage. The screening will take place at the Port Centre, Dublin Port. As part of the reception light drinks and buffet will be served ahead of the screening.
Dublin residents Gary Brown, Shane O’Doherty, Audrey Mac Cready, Jenny Kilbride, John Hawkins, Séan Potts, Mick Foran, and Kay Foran are among those who feature in the film, sharing their stories of living and working in the area. Shane O’Doherty describes the links between the landscape and history in Dublin Bay, while Kay Foran shares her memorable stories of signing up as a rare female dockworker. Please email Rita Singer ([email protected]) to confirm your attendance at the film screening. If you have special dietary requirements, please let us know so we can cater to your needs. With thanks to Dublin Port Company for supporting the film launch event.
This is just one of the events being held throughout Heritage Week in Dublin. Highlights of the programme include an exhibition in the Liffey Corner Room, CHQ, and an exhibition launch on Tuesday 16 August.
